The First Forty Minutes of Network Television on 9/11 Synchronized

A YouTube video proving without a shadow of a doubt that the four networks collaborated by sharing video feeds in real time on the morning of September 11th, 2001.

The First Forty Minutes, Synchronized.

As the film maker says, "This is the first forty minutes of live T.V. news on September 11th, 2001. Ignoring the on-screen clocks and synchronizing at Bush's speech at approximately 9:30. Without any manipulation. Played at 4X normal speed. From Fox, CBS, NBC, and ABC."

At the speeded up rate, we can witness how often the four networks ran the identical imagery at the same time (albeit, with weird, tricked out colored lens)---impossible to do unless a command central was running a coordinated T.V. video program (and we can see that ABC was the only network to actually run a "live" shot of the second plane crashing (but in reality, even that was delayed 17 seconds. Listen for the beep.)

This is a visual comparison. Of course, four sound tracks couldn't play at the same time---let alone running at a rate of four times normal. So the filmmaker picks some actual telecast audio as an accompaniment, but by the time the supposed plane crashes it switches to a song by the Beatles.

Since the filmmaker uses Bush's speech at 9:30 as the synchronization point, he/she was limited by YouTube 10-minute rule and thus had to begin the sequence slightly behind some of the first televised images of a smoking World Trade Tower. I left a comment recently asking for more work to be done:

Excellent work chrysaor911. YouTube no longer has a 10-minute rule. Can you redo, to capture those first important seconds?

Also, can you do a video using Bush's speech again, but this time as a starting off point, synchronizing the subsequent coverage from the Washington affiliates of FOX, ABC,CBS, and NBC? Proof of collaboration between the networks in sharing the same video in real time. Yours is such an elegant simple proof---too bad you have gotten so few viewers!

Yes, how sad that only 1251 viewers have seen this important work since it went up on August 14th, 2008. Too bad for the unknowing, that the truth is out there and the truth will set you free!

Bill Vaughn: Pentagon 9/11 Photographer

Five images found at Corbis. Four from the evening of the 12th.

This one is captioned, "Pentagon After Attack: Night Searches for Survivors," which seems odd with two responders reading the newspaper. Guess there wasn't much business.

One image is dated September 11th, thus placing Mr. Vaughn at a fairly privileged location on 9/11---high on top of something if the angle of the ambulance is any guide.

At 9:42am EDT, (29:17/41:41) film shows smoke rising behind the Old Executive Office Building. (29:35/41:41) Clair Shipman is on the phone.(34:25/41:41) Breaking News banner Anchors Carol Costello, Don Hudson, break into network coverage

Hudson: We want you to let you know that we’ll get back to ABC’s special coverage, but we ourselves, what started in New York is now happening in Washington, and we want to get more into that this morning.

Costello: That’s right, I’m Carol Costello, Don Hudson, we want to go live to Sam Ford right now, he is live at Reagan National Airport with an update on the air crash at the Pentagon, Sam Ford tell us what you can.

Ford: Well, Carol, as you can see, there is this loud, huge cloud of smoke behind me and that is the location of the Pentagon. We had come here to National Airport to, you know, to continue our coverage of the situation in New York because the airports had been shut down, no sooner had we gotten here and stopped the car then we looked up and there was this cloud of smoke billowing from the Pentagon. There had been a traffic accident here at national and a number of emergency vehicles were dealing with that and suddenly we saw this and I would say within a couple of minute they were all tearing out of here, heading toward the Pentagon. We asked folks here--one of the police officers told me, that he had heard, a plane had gone into the Pentagon, obviously more of the situations in New York. People here are extremely nervous and some are saying that they wanted us to leave this area, we don’t know if they’re going to shut down the airport, or evacuate this place, this is, this is a concern at this point, people are still here, but there is concern about the safety of this place, obviously, with these bombs going off, or planes crashing into buildings all over the place, but that’s it here, as you can see the smoke…Sam…see paper flying…Sam…about…yes Carol,

Costello: Sam, a question for you: we understand that there is a tail section of a plane sticking out of the Pentagon and a plane did hit the Pentagon. Is that true?

Ford: Well, at this point Carol we are at National Airport, so all we can really see is the flame. Now I understand we have some photographers over at the Pentagon, I cannot tell you exactly but from our vantage point all we see smoke

Costello: Sam, if I could interrupt, we do have an eyewitness who actually saw this event take place they’re on the phone with us now… is it Mr. Or Mrs. German?

Germet(?): It’s Mr. Germer

Costello: Mr. Germet, tell us what happened?

Germet: I saw a big explosion, a ball of fire, my window rattled, and I looked out there was a big ball of fire and smoke coming out, and I’m looking at it right now, it missed the Navy Annex, and it missed the Pentagon, its like missed so many high-rise buildings and it hit probably the parking lot or the cemetery behind the Navy Annex, that’s what it looked like.

Costello: Mr Germent, did you actually see a plane?

Germet: I didn’t see a plane, I heard the explosion I thought it was a fly-by because I looked toward the airport, my window rattled I looked south, I saw a ball of fire and just smoke coming out.

Costello: Are you feeling nervous right now Mr. Germent?

Germet; Yes, very much so, I thought I was hit, I mean, the building shook so much.

Hudson: Well he’s not the only one that’s for sure, as keep you on the phone and Sam as well, we’re now getting reports that the White House has been threatened, here, we’re also getting reports the Capital has been evacuated, the West Wing of the White House evacuated to go along with all this. What started at 8:40 this morning in New York of course, is now threatening of course our city, our safety, a lot of folks,

Costello: The pictures, the picture that you are looking at right now are from our live cameras, we can see smoke pouring near the Pentagon, Mr. Germent, do you want to add anything? I can hear you are still on the phone with us?

Germet: I’m trying to get out of here because I live a few miles from the Pentagon…I don’t know what is going on.

Costello: OK you get going Mr. Germent, we understand, thank you for joining us, lets go to a White House shot that we have right now. The White House West Wing has been evacuated as we understand, we know the President Bush is not there but he is on his way back to Washington, you can see the armed guards on top of the White House keeping watch, but at this point, they, as well as we, don’t know exactly what is going to happen, but everybody is on standby as you might expect.

9:51 (38:49/41:41)

Hudson: And as you mention, in case people are wondering, and didn’t see, President Bush in Florida for an educational issue down there. He made a brief announcement about this and said he was on his way back here to deal with it, and of course, saying the terrorist acts will not be tolerated, and that they will be looking into it, but AFTER he made that comment is when the thing, when it happened at the Pentagon, at that time only the two planes had crashed into the twin towers, the World Trade Center in New York.

Costello: We wish we could tell you more about what is happening in our own backyard at the Pentagon we don’t know if there were any injuries, we do know that there was a construction scene on the scene at the time, we know, we do know that when they heard something, um, explode, they turned around and they started to run. We do not know if anyone inside the Pentagon, or around it, was hurt.

Hudson: OK, we have another person on the phone, Janet, are you with us?

Janet: Yes I am

Hudson: We understand that you witnessed this plane—a plane—crash into the Pentagon?

Janet: Yes sir, I did.

Hudson: What, tell us exactly what you saw.

Janet: Well, I live in a high-rise building just outside of, a Roslyn and I was actually glued to the television and I have an office here and it’s all glassed in and I saw a plane just coming right in front of my window, flying at a, a path that the commercial planes do not fly, not coming in the direction to land at National Airport

Hudson: How big was the plane?

Janet: Um, It certainly looked larger….every once in a while there is a flight path difference for smaller, private planes that come in, this was not a small private looking plane. It looks more like a commuter-type plane, but it was sizable, yes

Costello: And you said it was heading directly to the Pentagon?

Janet: It was heading in the direction of the AIRPORT, and I thought this plane is way too low and there is no runway that—it goes in that direction, and it didn’t turn at all, and as soon as I saw it, I knew that it was way too low and not on a flight path that I’ve ever seen before living here.

Costello: And what did you hear?

Janet: I couldn’t hear anything, um, from where I am, I just saw the plane just disappear out of my sight beyond the trees, and then I just saw a massive pillar of smoke and then a few minutes later they, I heard—it’s basically, obviously where the Pentagon is, I can’t see the Pentagon, it’s covered in trees

Costello: Are you in a safe place right now?

Janet: Ah, as far as I know! I’m in my apartment where I live, so, I am on the 13th floor of a high-rise in Roslyn.

Hudson: We can see on the bottom right hand corner of our screen, you can see the firefighters (9:52) spraying, at the Pentagon, trying to put out that fire, Jan, did, were you already aware of what happened in New York when you saw this coming?

Janet: Yes sir, yes sir, I was, I was glued to the television ah, because I actually running an event in New York at the end of the week.

Costello: Aw, you poor thing, OK, we’re going to go back to our Sam Ford who is at Reagan National right now

Hudson: Thank you Janet

Costello: Sam, we understand that the FAA has taken action, can you tell us what that is.

Ford: Yes Carol, because of this situation the FAA has shut down all aircraft flights across the country. They, I think, it is a situation where it is too dangerous, right here at National airport you normally would have planes taking off and landing, there are no planes taking off or landing here, the skies are clear and there is smoke covering the area. This gentleman is named Todd Nelson. You were just picking up what, debris. What is this some sort of….

Nelson: It looks like insulation. I was just standing here watching, and all sorts of paper, and debris, and insulation…

Ford: I’m sorry yes, this is, what?

Nelson: All sorts of paper and debris and insulation were just flying down and landing on us over here and it’s just amazing.

Ford: Yea, some sort of insulation or some sort of debris that, it looks like, it appears to have come from the Pentagon crash, it’s coming through the air. You can see papers flying through the air—things like that. So, that’s the word from here. We’re hearing that the FAA has shut down air traffic…

Ann Coulter article This is War September 13, 2001

We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.

Weinstein, a former White House attorney under Ronald Reagan, former general counsel to H. Ross Perot, and who spent a decade as an Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG), has been waging a war against the Department of Defense (DOD) for what he says is a blatant disregard of the Constitution and a pattern of forcing soldiers to embrace evangelical Christianity.

Separately, seven Army and Air Force officers, including four generals, face possible disciplinary action for violating ethics rules by assisting a Christian group in the production of a fundraising video. A Pentagon inspector general's report released earlier this month found the officers were interviewed in uniform and "in official and often identifiable Pentagon locations."

The video was for the evangelical group Christian Embassy. The report found that none of the officers received approval from superiors to participate in video interviews in an official capacity or in uniform.

"What we are seeing is an imperious, fascistic contagion of unconstitutional religious triumphalism that represents a national security threat internally to this country," he said. "This is every bit as significant in magnitude as that presented externally by the now resurgent Taliban and al-Qaida. Let's call a spade a spade: We are confronting the Christian Taliban, period!"

Lt. Gen. William G. "Jerry" Boykin, the new deputy undersecretary of Defense for intelligence, is a much-decorated and twice-wounded veteran of covert military operations. From the bloody 1993 clash with Muslim warlords in Somalia chronicled in "Black Hawk Down" and the hunt for Colombian drug czar Pablo Escobar to the ill-fated attempt to rescue American hostages in Iran in 1980, Boykin was in the thick of things.

Yet the former commander and 13-year veteran of the Army's top-secret Delta Force is also an outspoken evangelical Christian who appeared in dress uniform and polished jump boots before a religious group in Oregon in June to declare that radical Islamists hated the United States "because we're a Christian nation, because our foundation and our roots are Judeo-Christian ... and the enemy is a guy named Satan."

Pentagon Basement Renovations

The Pentagon Renovation Program
The second phase of the Program involves the renovation of the Basement and Mezzanine, which started in September 1994. One third of the Basement has been renovated with many areas now occupied. The original basement slab was lowered in order to accommodate an entirely new level between the basement and the first floor. When completed, this new Mezzanine level will add close to 320,000 square feet of office space to the Pentagon.

Building Features
The Mall and River sides of the building have a Basement area which includes a partial Mezzanine.

[The Pentagon site]"...is situated between a large man-made lagoon...[and] the highlands of Arlington National Cemetery."

Original Construction
The decision to move the Pentagon downstream from its planned location placed it within the flood plain of the Potomac River.

Pentagon Renovation & Construction Program Office Project Information

March 2000 Basement/Mezzanine
Basement and Mezzanine levels exist under three fifths of the Pentagon. This area has been divided into three segments. Segment 1 has been renovated and is now occupied by 1,200 Air Force personnel and the new DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic. Segments 2 and 3 have been demolished and abated of all hazardous materials.

Bush S.E.C. Pick Is Seen as Friend to Corporations - New York Times

RUMSFELD ON 9/11: In his private dining room to U.S. Rep. Christopher Cox, R-Calif minutes before the attack.

"He said, 'Let me tell ya, I've been around the block a few times. There will be another event.' And he repeated it for emphasis," Cox said. "And within minutes of saying that, his words proved tragically prophetic."
CJ Online (free registration to see article).

After this, Rumsfeld went out onto the Pentagon lawn to make an appearance (Article text and photo). How did he predict the third attack? Why did he feel safe to go out? What is the Secretary of Defense doing taking chances with our national security by risking his life outside while we're under attack? What if there had been a fourth attack (there was a fourth plane)? What if he'd been killed? Or did he know the attacks were over? Following is a second version of the story where he even suggested the attack might be on the Pentagon.

"Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, was in his office on the eastern side of the building, in a meeting with Christopher Cox, the defence policy committee chairman of the House of Representatives. Mr Rumsfeld, recalls Mr Cox, watched the TV coverage from New York and said: 'Believe me, this isn't over yet. There's going to be another attack, and it could be us.'

Moments later, the plane hit. Mr Rumsfeld ran to the point of impact and helped load the wounded on to stretchers before retreating to the secure National Military Command Centre, beneath the building. There, he refused entreaties to evacuate even as the Centre filled with smoke." (Source).

Russell Pickering's Car Fire Chronology Page

Date: 9/11/01
DESCRIPTION: The three photographers from left to right are Jason Ingersoll, Jon Culberson, and unknown. As a footnote, in the center photo the four glowing items to the right are pressurized gases used for welding ignited inside a steel cage. The vehicles belonged to the heliport tower personnel. The Nissan 300ZX belonged to Sean Boger and the Jeep Grand Cherokee belonged to Jacqueline Kidd.

This page is to show the progression of the car fires in relation to the removal of the apparatus from the scene due to a fireground evacuation at 10:15. Its secondary purpose is to explain how the cars were covered with foam at one point and then later clean.

The initial time keys will be the Bob Pugh video since obviously it is sequential. Video stills are labeled with his name since the video is copyrighted. I will put the approximate time on the still based on the arrival times of apparatus, the building collapse etc.. I say approximate since the time/date stamp is not indicated on the video. There are times also where the video was shut off for short periods while Bob changed locations. I have used the shadow highlight tool in Photoshop on a couple of photos to bring out details in the areas that were dark on some photos.

This is the initial foam blast of MWAA 331. The 420 gallon foam tank runs out after this. They sprayed the front of the facade and the parked cars. This is when the cars were turned white.

This is taken right after the tank emptied from a different angle. MWAA 345 is not here yet. Notice the foam on the facade, the profile of the Jeep and fire, and the single pair of tire tracks leading in.

You can see the 300ZX is pretty well destroyed. That is the real question here. How did the explosion and debris jump over the Jeep without breaking so much as a window and destroy the 300ZX? You can see the involvement of the Jeep now too.

This is approximately 30 seconds later. There has been water applied to the 300ZX for the whole time spraying over it and “washing” the Jeep. That white (that looks like smoke in the still) coming from the left of the Jeep is water spray which is very obvious in the video. Then the spray from the monitor on the ground has been misting it too. Note that the fire in the Jeep is out. As a footnote, that is firefighter Alan Wallace who was on site and claims to have seen a “white aircraft with blue and orange stripes”. You can tell it is him because of the suspender hanging down. In his statement he claims it was burned by debris that flew into the station where his bunker pants were sitting.

This is what is actually interesting to me. The aircraft wing is said to have hit mere feet from the Jeep. There is nothing to indicate any damage to the Jeep. There was significant damage to the 300ZX, Foam 161, shrapnel in the trees and projectiles impacted the heliport. This Jeep would have also been totally engulfed in the fireball shown on the DoD videos. It was almost like the damage originated to the north of the Jeep in some way.

This photo was taken sometime after 9:48 when MWAA 345 arrived but before the roof collapse at 9:57. You can see by the engine smoke they are just firing up their pump to start the initial attack on the generator. Notice now there are two sets of tracks in the grass, one for each apparatus. Make notice of the position of the trucks.

This is some time after 10:15. The evacuation has taken place. The MWAA trucks are gone. The following is from the Arlington County After-Action Report.

10:15 a.m. Chief Schwartz orders full evacuation because of warning of approaching hijacked aircraft.

10:38 a.m. Chief Schwartz sounds the all-clear, ending the evacuation.

I confirmed this with the Chief via email who said, “The firefighters were removed from the fire ground for 23 minutes approximately 300 yards, under the interstate overpass. The apparatus however remained in place.”

Is this a contradiction? No - his Arlington County apparatus remained in place and his firefighters went 300 yards away to the overpass.

His statements are confirmed by this shot. The Chief’s are standing right there. This is a Bob Pugh video frame but it is no longer good for time since the camera has been turned on and off as he was progressively pushed back. So what about the MWAA trucks and crew?

I talked to the MWAA Captain on the phone about this. He had the trucks pulled back to the guardrail and his crews stood by on Washington Blvd. Look at the left edge of the photo and you can see the Jeep has re-ignited and is burning freely. As a former professional firefighter I have personally seen cars “rekindle” - there is nothing odd about it.

This is the jeep free-burning during the evacuation from a different angle.

The evacuation is over now. The MWAA apparatus have repositioned themselves in different locations. Compare this to the photo above to see how much further the jeep fire has progressed between the two photos.

The time stamp on this photo is reported to be accurate. It makes sense because the fires near the tower are out. DCFD Truck 10 was brought in around 11:30 to fight those with the aerial. You can see the tire tracks from all the moving around. Go back up 6 photos and it is obvious that the trucks are now in different positions than they were originally.

Summary:

1) The Jeep and 300ZX were on fire.
2) The 300ZX was much more damaged and involved in fire. The jeep didn’t have a broken window even though it was closer to the impact.
3) MWAA 331 expended it’s 420 gallon foam tank on the facade which included covering the cars.
4) Fort Meyer Rescue Engine 161 fought the 300ZX fire and had a monitor going which resulted in the foam being washed off the vehicles.
5) The fire ground was evacuated from 10:15 – 10:38 because of reports of another incoming aircraft. The ACFD crews left their apparatus and went to the overpass. The MWAA crews moved their apparatus to the guardrail. During this time the Jeep “rekindled” and burned freely for at least 23 minutes.
6) The MWAA apparatus repositioned themselves in different positions.

Go to archive.org to see the lost page of Mr., Mrs, or Miss K. McSorley, either a photographer or an image arggregator/organizer, whose work must have been so troublingly good it had to be hidden behind a robots.txt like device. The template shows places for 46 images, but only 4 thumbnails appear, none of which open. One of them is this image:

I happen to know the following is also a kmcsorley image:

Both of them are "photos of interest," to adapt a police phrase. Whatever became of these images? Is there anybody out there who could help a poor researcher out when he asks a direct question? I'd love to see these images in as high a resolution as can be provided.

Why did these images only appear on the web from February 11th, 2004 to February 4rth, 2005?

OK. I'll pay cash. You know how to reach me.

Martin H. Simon

Go to Corbis and put in Martin H. Simon Pentagon, to see 64 images returned, seven of which were taken on September 11th, 2001. While not displaying any special level of access for Mr. Simon on that day, when viewed in the context of the related images, Mr. Simon work is seen for what it is---a tawdry, sentimental suck up to official Washington and the Bush regime.

And ever so common at that. Six of the seven images were taken from the restricted press area of the Citgo and look much like everyone else's:
The Citgo dirt mound under foot as our grounding...

Helicopters, helicopters...

A pair of splendid phallic symbols rising out of the smoky mists (he may have been the only one allowed that special privilege---at least during daylight hours ...

The ubiquitous telephoto lens...

But the seventh image from 9/11 was taken from across the highway, from the elevated perch where so many others also got their pictures. Was Simon run over there on one of those infamous Pentagon golf carts in order to provide a bit of range to the file of his work?

This odd image out, however, is of some interest, in that we see traffic cones and a traffic cop denying the use of what appears to be the exit lane. I've posted it to my blog about the traffic conditions in the area.

Then Mr. Simon rounds out his file---just like all the other trained seals in the Washington press corps---with the same cheap generic shots of the patriotism of flag-pattern attire...

And the war whorehousedom of America's fighting men...

Plus the cheap religiosity of the true bleeding hearts amongst us as they pray...

With the frosting of a hagiography of a mighty leader in action...

or at sweet repose...

And what does Mr. Martin H. Simon get out of all that? ACCESS, dear ones! Invitations to the SWELLEST parties!

For all the years of the Bush regime---like this gala on May 7th, 2007.

Mr. Martin H. Simon--Washington press corp photographer in good standing!
